A Mountain Recap

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

Colorado 2022 is in the books!

Even before I found out I was pregnant, I dreamed of taking my future babies to the mountains. The life that the beach gives to many, the mountains bring to my soul. Just in the nick of time, we were able to squeeze in a trip to visit my mom and take Bennett to my favorite place on earth! I'm so thankful we could! Here are some highlights of the trip.

THE FOOD

First, lets talk about the eats. This trip didn't produce the best food discoveries, but there were a couple of good finds!

Nuance. Need I say more? A delectable, warm sipping chocolate was discovered. You heard that right. A half bar of chocolate melted in cream to sip and savor. It was so delicious that I joked that I could've taken in a bath in it =D A must try if you're in the FoCo area.

Bann Thai. My favorite, the usual on repeat. Consistent every time.

Himalayan Bistro. Indian cuisine. Always a treat!

Blue agave, on taco Tuesday. Those tacos were on FIRE! Literally *sweating emoji*. Apparently the jalapeños they use change in heat each day. If you like to play roulette with your spices, this place is for you.

Suehiro Japanese. Not great, not awful. Bland but the customer service was good.

JJ pizza. Awesome wood fire pizza with a neat atmosphere. Bonus, it's attached to a gas station if you need a fill up after :)

THE HIKE

We took Bennett to a sunrise hike at bear lake. The only reason we chose sunrise was because we missed the window to register for a timed entry ticket. We snuck into the park before 5am so we could hike -- it made for a fun and unique experience. Our hike to dream lake included many passing comments on the bravery of taking a stroller half way up to snapping pics of little B on one of the first hikes I ever took at RMNP. It was a sweet memory for the books.

The trip up trail ridge road -- a bit nauseating lol My body just simply cannot handle much since I gave birth! A touch of altitude sickness pair with the fear of driving off the mountainside were very present :) Breathtaking views were had nonetheless. A refreshing mountain experience yet again.

THE POOL

My favorite part of summer -- baking at a pool lol (covered in SPF of course, that CO sun is no joke!) We swam, we splashed, we baked, we laughed. I wish I could live this way every day!

THE FUN

Spending time with my mom is a favorite for me. Spending time with my little family and my best friend = priceless. From shopping to eating to drinking coffee to going on walks, these times are the best of times. One day we'll live closer and do this more often, so for now we'll make new memories near and far.

TO cap the trip, Bennett slept great through most of the drive out and the drive back. Bouncing back after an all nighter was harder this time around but Trevor and I managed to pull our 30+ year old bodies through ;)

I love CO. I love my family. I love to travel.

2022 Colorado -- that's a wrap! <3
